Thornton Forklift Parts - Thornton is located within the state of Colorado, United States and is a member of both the Weld and Adams counties. It is a suburb of the Denver-Aurora-Broomfield, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area. Roughly 10 miles southwest of the city of Thornton lies the capital of the state, Denver. The United States Census Bureau recorded the population as being 118,772 on the 1st of April, 2010. This is about 44% increase from the 2000 census, where the population was about 82,380. The city of Thornton is the 6th most populated city in Colorado and the 213th most densely inhabited city within the US.
Thornton was literally just a farmland until the year 1953. In that year, Sam Hoffman purchased a plot of land just outside Denver wherein he laid plans for a community. It was the very first of its kind in Adams County, as well as the first that provided full municipal services off a single tax levy. The name of the city was chosen to honor Former Colorado Governor Dan Thornton.
The Thornton community Association (or also known as TCS) was formed to help guide the community through its development. There are several historic locations that are located within the nearby city of Denver, like for example the Colorado Governor's Mansion, the Denver Mint and the Colorado State Capitol. There is also the Forney Museum of Transportation, which features a selection of antique carriages, automobiles, trains and bicycles. Some of the other attractions nearby consist of Grasmer Lake and Holly Park, Park Hill Golf park and Denver Zoo. In September, Thornton hosts the Harvest Fest and in the month of December, the Winterfest.
